DIY SEO TIP #1: Natural Inbound Links

A Saskatoon based SEO company.

When you’re self-launching your first business website it’s very important to get established with the search engines right out of the gate.

The best way to do that is to get some very natural links to your website from your friends, family, and customers.

This only takes a few minutes of your time but the punch it gives your new website is extremely powerful in the eyes of Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc.

Simply email your friends, family, and customers with a friendly request to have them link to your website.

Ask them to link from their social media accounts such as Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram.

It’s very natural for these links to appear and every inbound link helps your business website ranking with the major search engines.

I know this sounds very simple and like a no brainer to most readers, but you would be surprised to see how many clients I have helped who have created their business website and years later they don’t even have a single inbound link to their home page or product pages.

This kind of initial linking to your business website is very natural and therefore extremely safe. Google, Bing, and Yahoo fully expect you to have these kinds of links to your website.

I know that some people just don’t want to ask their friends and family and customers to do this because they feel uncomfortable about it. If there is ever a time when you should put aside discomfort about asking people for a favor, this is it.

Besides, you’ll find most of these people will be happy to do it.

What pages should they link to?

In a perfect world these folks would link to various different pages on your business website but in the long run it’s OK for them to link to any page or post they want.

In your request email that you sent to these folks just go ahead and asked them to link to any one of your website pages. That’s A strong hint to them that they could consider linking to something besides just your homepage. But don’t worry about it, if all of them linked to just your homepage that would be just great too.

Example email

Hello Cooter,

I hope you are well today. I am just emailing you to request something simple to help my new website get off the ground.

When you find a chance could you please link to my new business website from your social media accounts or any websites or platforms you use?

I know it is a lot to ask but it’s very important for my business to get a start online.

Thank you so much for your time in reading this and helping me out if you can get the chance to do it.

Sincerely,

Billy Bob
